Meet Andrea

Things I love

Dogs light up my heart. I am super proud to be a dog mum to Louie, my Dutch mini-schnauzer.  I am physically very active and especially love to be outdoors – walking, hiking, running and boot-camping.  A few years ago, I discovered a passion for hiking, especially in the spectacular fells of the Lake District here in the UK.  Hiking helps to remind me that I can always do more than I think, that taking small, consistent steps - however hard - really does lead me to my destination, that detours and wrong turnings can be a pain.....that provide surprising new perspectives. Hiking these magical fells makes me feel deeply connected to nature in ways I didn't know possible.

I love a hot milky coffee in the mornings whilst journaling my thoughts.  I am quite a brave adventurer but when it comes to spiders in my home, I freak out.  Books fill me with me joy. I have way more books than I have read. Psychological thrillers are my favourite.

A favourite quote:

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

For almost 30 years I lived in the Netherlands (Amsterdam) and I moved back to the UK in November 2022.  My heart is half British and half Dutch and I am learning to reconcile these two big parts of me as I set up home on British turf. I speak fluent Dutch - something I am proud to say - and luckily, my native English is gradually coming back to me. Over the last 30 years, I have worked in/with many international organisations and with people from different cultural backgrounds and corners of the world, including my therapy practice.

Is there a click?

There are so many therapists to choose from, and I really believe that there is a suitable therapist out there for all of us, at whatever stage of life we are in. What suits one person, will not necessarily suit the other. Honestly, I think no matter how skilled or experienced the therapist is, the person who will probably help you the most, is the one you feel safe enough to work with, the person with whom you feel a click.

Why work with me?

I love what I do, and am passionate about continually learning, growing and improving on how I work. I have many years' experience and thousands of client hours as a therapist and learning facilitator. It's been a joy to witness how therapy has had a significant impact on people's lives, including my own. I am good at :

  • sitting with and standing in the unknown;
  • sensing stuff that's not yet been spoken out loud;
  • getting to the core of the issue rather quickly.

If you are a therapist, counsellor or coach (you could also be in training), I have a new mentoring programme to support you to deepen your therapeutic intervention skills and get the best out of your professional self. Click here for more information.

If my words speak to you, if my website resonates and you are curious to explore if I am the right person for you to work with right now, then please email me or give me a call. I can promise that I will sit with you, listen to your words and the emotions beneath them, help you learn to track your body's signals, support you and also challenge you, when the time is right.
